My vacation week was very relaxed and slow paced. It was wonderful compared to the constant rush in the kitchen in class! My mornings, because my cousins worked and had school, I had all to myself. So I wandered endlessly every morning.
I haven't seen snow since leaving Canada in January (lucky, I know). So I was happy to see light snow in Innsbruck, because the weeks previous to my arrival it was 10 degrees. Katharina was "angry" with me, because I "brought" the snow and cold. But I was happy! A light dusting of snow made the city so beautiful.
Pictures of the Hofgarten.
(I like to think of it as a very mini version of Central Park!)
The old town, where all the touristic shops and sites are.
Some flowers covered with fresh snow covering them.
I love the coloured houses! Too cute! Something that you'd only see in Europe.
The river that runs right through Innsbruck, giving the city it's name.
The Golden Dachl! (Golden Roof)
Made out of real gold.
You will never find it coved in snow, it melts right off. This is because of touristic purposes.
If people come to see the Golden Roof and there's snow on it, there's nothing Golden about it!
My blog should really be called European Architecture.
I'm in love with it!
So intricate and beautiful!
More coloured buildings and churches!
Wonderfully European.
A cute little cafe where I had Apple Strudel that wasn't as good as my moms and a hot chocolate.
Gold... Church... Paintings... European Architecture!
Karl and Lisa's neighborhood.
Innsbruck's version of L'Arc de Triomphe.
(a lot smaller version!)
Colours!
Karl and Lisa's house, one of the few buildings with a modern twist!
Where I lived for the week, I felt very at home!
We ate dinner together. (All very yummy and mostly Austrian food which I would find at my Oma's and Opa's house.)
We played card games together. (Fun Austrian ones!)
It just felt good to be in a family setting again. I'm getting tired of always taking care of myself.. (haha)
I just loved wandering around aimlessly and discovering new cute little shops and streets!
Nothing like losing yourself in Innsbruck!
xox
Thanks for the beautiful pictures. It's great to see my origins, my relatives and the beauty of Austria and how you have embraced them. I'm feeling a pull to return there sometime soon!
ReplyDeletep.s. That's quite a compliment about the apfel strudel! Thanks Beez. xoxoxo
Hi Briana, this is Oma. I agree with you that all the views are breathtaking. The last time I saw Innsbruck was in the late 1940's and I must say, the buildings have been beautifully preserved. The colours of the buildings and the mountain views while skiing are really beautiful. Thank you Briana for your effort. Love, Oma
