Two Days and Two Nights in... Barcelona!

My classes are set up in a way that my weekends are free.
(It's wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!)

So, because of this, Desiree and I have planned to travel everywhere in Europe!
We started off with the party capital of Europe!
Barcelona!!

The plan was to leave the Friday night at 8:00, because the others had French cuisine class until 7:30. So because there are always delays and we only left at 9:15.
Barcelona, from Cap d'Agde is about a 3 and a half hour drive. So what do you get when you stick seven excited party people in one large "Fiat Minibus"?
Awesomely horrible pictures and a ton of good laughs.

One of the few clear pictures taken in the van.
(yes there are three seats in the front, how cool!)

You can tell you're in Europe by the constant scooter sound, and not only by the beautiful, historic buildings, that I am oh so in love with.
(Also by the hundreds of specified scooter ad bicycle parking places)

A gorgeous little bridge, connecting two buildings.
(not sure as to why the buildings needed a bridge between them, but it sure was lovely!)

Now, what's better than a candy shop, that is self serve and the containers are little pill bottles that say "Happy Pills".
Well, what's better is that they organize the candy by rainbow order!
It was the cutest and coolest things.
I was literally glowing like a little kid in a candy shop!

Most of our Saturday was spent wandering the streets of Barcelona and of course shopping!
For some reason most of the stores I stepped foot in were stores like H&M and Mango. Both of which have boutiques in Montreal. Silly, silly me!
I didn't buy anything, though.
Except a pair of cute gloves with bows, because it was a chilly weekend in Barcelona.

Some beautiful, almost new born, puppies!
Normally, I would have felt sorry for the puppies are angry at how irresponsible the owners of the dogs are but for some reason I didn't.
The owners seemed like they genuinely cared for the mama dog, they gave her their only sleeping bag!
Also, I think I was comforted by the fact that they also owned the father dog, which is surprising, because in the case of street people and dogs, they often let their dogs roam free so then their dog can be impregnated by any other random dog.

So, in all, anyone that knows me, knows that something like this touches my heart because of my love for animals.

After a long Saturday of walking and shopping and walking and shopping, we went back to our hostel. It was called the Sun and Moon Hostel. I would recommended it to anyone that wants a cheap, but still nice place to stay. For fifteen euros a night, you get to stay in a new hostel (created in 2005), that provides breakfast (nothing fancy shmancy, but nutritious and delicious none the less!), but probably most importantly, it's location is extremely central. In my eyes it was a steal!

Just one negative comment about it, is that our first night there it was freezing in our room and we couldn't do anything to fix it! So be equipped with warm enough blankets!

Being in the party capital of Europe, we couldn't resist going to a nightclub. Music was good, drinks were good, plenty of people dancing, and plenty of cute Spaniards! (Maybe that last ones a lie, I just wanted to use the word Spaniards.)
We partied at this club from about 1 am until 4 am. And as we were leaving at four in the morning, people were still in line to come in. Move over New York City, Barcelona is now the city that never sleeps.

On Sunday, Desiree just had to return to a cute little meat shop that we discovered Saturday.
With hanging pig legs on the wall, I can tell you that it wasn't really my thing.

Eating a quick lunch outside the famous cathedral in Barcelona, the Sagrada Familia.
It is designed by a famous architect Antoni Gaudi, who also designed many other funky buildings in Barcelona.
Here's a link to some of his other works of art:

Some buildings that are in the famous Parc Guell.
The park is one of the creations of Antoni Gaudi as well.

This was Gaudi's house. He live in Parc Guell in the 1920's. The park has now become a National Park and his house a museum dedicated to him.

A beautiful panoramic shot of the view from Parc Guell of the city of Barcelona.

The whole Barcelona gang, getting ready for the journey back home.

Well folks, there you have my Barcelona adventure in a nutshell!
Hope you enjoyed it, but you definitely did not enjoy reading my post about Barcelona as I has IN Barcelona!
